St Francis of Assisi Kabil-Batam parish being the 6th parish in Batam is the newest parish for the island. In March 8th 2018, several priests have held a meeting to discuss the establishment of the Kabil parish. The meeting became a milestone in the establishment of Kabil Parish.
The history of Saint Francis of Assisi Kabil Parish begin with Saint Joseph Kabil Church, which is an inseparable part of Saint Damian Bengkong parish at that time. A quite small church building that now could no longer accommodate the number of Catholics in that area.
St Damian parish was inaugurated on June 7th,2009 by Mgr Hilarius Moa Nurak SVD, which at the same time he also inaugurated the Saint Joseph’s Church at Kabil.
